The Munich City Pass as a Public Transport Ticket

The Munich City Pass includes a ticket for all public transport (MVV) in Munich. You can use it for unlimited travel on the subway, S-Bahn, bus and tram (all 2nd class) within your chosen validity zone. When purchasing, you choose between Zone M (city area) or Zone M-6 (greater area incl. airport). Most attractions are located in Zone M, while M-6 makes sense if you're coming from the airport or planning trips to the surrounding area. The ticket is valid all day for 1 to 5 days and expires at 6 AM on the last day of validity. Long-distance trains and 1st class are excluded.

Practical Use

You receive the City Pass as a digital ticket (on your smartphone or for printing). You must validate it before your first journey: Online tickets are already dated, while tickets from machines must be stamped at the blue validator before starting your journey. After that, you can transfer as often as you like without buying a new ticket. There are no barriers in the subway and S-Bahn - you simply board, but should always carry your valid pass. On buses and trams you simply board; ticket inspectors only check tickets randomly. During an inspection, you simply show your City Pass on your phone or as a printout.

Timetables and Public Transport App

For route planning, the official app MVGO (iOS / Android) helps you. It provides timetable information, real-time departure times and network maps, showing you the fastest connections. Subway and S-Bahn run approximately from 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM. On Friday and Saturday nights and nights before holidays, some subway lines even run continuously. Outside these times, night buses and night trams (N-lines) take you to your destination hourly.

Important Lines for Tourists

With the City Pass, you can easily reach the most important destinations. Here are some useful connections:
